Simple implementation of the new EEG surcharge regulation

Starting 31 December 2021, the new EEG surcharge regulation comes into effect. We explain what you need to consider.

Companies that supply self-generated electricity from renewable energy to third-party consumers must, in the future, clearly separate it from electricity used for their own consumption. This must be done on a quarter-hourly basis and using measuring equipment that complies with calibration and legal metrology requirements. Only then can the reduced EEG surcharge for self-consumption be applied.

To fully meet the requirements, measuring devices must be certified according to PTB-A 50.7 and record measurement data for at least 12 months. This poses a significant challenge for many self-generators.

For companies and organisations using the deZem energy management software, we can offer a simple solution: our Edge Controller (iPCR + iPCR-M) are compatible with the UMG 96-PA-MID+ from Janitza. From there, the tamper-proof stored load profile data from the electricity meter can be easily read out using the iPCR or iPCR-M and transferred to the deZem IoT analysis platform. The data is then available for energy management or for calculating self-consumption.

About deZem

Since 2003, deZem has been developing and supplying hardware and software to network and analyse sensor data from many heterogeneous sources - worldwide with projects in Europe, America and Asia. Originally started in the field of energy controlling, we have expanded our range of products and services over the years into a comprehensive system for IoT data management, from industrial analytics to plant and process monitoring to technical building management. Because the basic idea is the same: to create a scalable platform for collecting and analysing IoT data.
